Philosophy of the Tent:

The best decorating and design takes inspiration from what was once done before. Whether it is in architecture, antiques, art, it all stems from a mix of inspiration and knowledge. I believe it is a duty to pass on and share the knowledge, and by no means do I think I have great knowledge, in fact the more I know the less I know.
This blog is a way not to forget what I have learned and what was kindly passed onto to me by a great many fascinating people. I thank you all.

Islamic Geometric Design - Broug Atelier

I am passionate about Islamic designs and details.  Two years ago, subsequently to a mosaic course at Emma Biggs’ Mosaic Workshop I bought a few books on Islamic geometric design with the idea of creating my own wall mosaic depicting one of the wonderful designs with seashells.  I have moved 12 times in 10 years so the project is still on hold unless a client fancies the idea or we finally settle long enough for the grount to set.  In the meantime and quite surprisingly I came across the website of one of the Authors, Eric Broug who creates the most wonderful screens, his website Broug.com is so inspiring, I hope I get the opportunity to use them soon.
