Philosophy of the Tent:

The best decorating and design takes inspiration from what was once done before. Whether it is in architecture, antiques, art, it all stems from a mix of inspiration and knowledge. I believe it is a duty to pass on and share the knowledge, and by no means do I think I have great knowledge, in fact the more I know the less I know.
This blog is a way not to forget what I have learned and what was kindly passed onto to me by a great many fascinating people. I thank you all.

Let The Sun Shine

The heat is definitely on its way, I am preparing myself for my first Dubai spring and summer temperatures.  It's all in the mind - or at least I hope so.  I love sunburst (or starburst) mirrors, I have a small old giltwood one I treasure and hope for more one day, a whole wall maybe? Thought to have originated under the reign of France's King Louis XIV, known as the 'Sun King', it is believed he enjoyed gazing into one each morning to see the rays spreading around his face.
