Philosophy of the Tent:

The best decorating and design takes inspiration from what was once done before. Whether it is in architecture, antiques, art, it all stems from a mix of inspiration and knowledge. I believe it is a duty to pass on and share the knowledge, and by no means do I think I have great knowledge, in fact the more I know the less I know.
This blog is a way not to forget what I have learned and what was kindly passed onto to me by a great many fascinating people. I thank you all.

Jan Kallwejt - Dubai Metro Map

Dubai Metro map
For good reason I have not posted for a long while.  I am working on a very exciting project here, totally out of my comfort zone as far as design and finishes.  The running of the project is also very new to me, a lot of corporate legal waste of time at the cost of design and research time, but hey ho that is the way of the world and in the meantime a fabulous challenge for me.
Whilst looking for a map of Dubai for my husband's office I came across the work of designer Jan Kallwejt and I adore it.  It is simple and yet complex in detail and  the use of two or three colours only is charming with a youthful quality to it.  His subjects are varied but I particularly like his collection of maps such as the Spanair one below

and others, too many to mention.
